The Life of a Female Hummingbird

By now as Spring has come and gone and summer is the season that rules the day most of the bird species around us have already raised a brood of young are actively feeding them.  It is a busy time in the bird world.  Birds are the hardest working parents I know.  At the end of the breeding season the male cardinals simply look haggard.

Hummingbirds don't raise young in pairs.  The female does all the work.  She is a total bad ass.
