Fork Tailed Bush Kaydid Nymph

I mean, just look at this.  Have you ever seen anything like it? This.  This, my friends.. These are the things that keep me up at night - chasing down the identity of a new friend, someone completely alien to me.  I mean, look at those feelers, the black eyes, and that mandible..  Those legs! Those feet!  And the red stripes.. How did this come to look like this?  Seriously.. It's more than I can stand.  I am completely infatuated..  Mesmerized..  And to think.. when this wild critter grows into an adult it will add to the cacophony of sound I hear right outside of my window as I type this.  Welcome to my garden young katydid.  Hark!  The season of insects is upon us!

I walk by flowers of all colors and leaves of all shapes and sizes and I marvel at their beauty. I am amazed by the ways they grow and the varying shades they subtly create. Most days when I look deeply at a flower or plant or leaf I find myself seeking the imperfections. The spots. The insects holes. I get lost in them - not wanting to change them and instead wanting to understand what they mean and how they came to be.  At what point in it's growth did they came to be!  Did something create them or did they grow that way? The spots - the imperfections give them character. I think they may be my favorite part of looking at flowers. And then, I wonder what that says about me...

The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely, or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature, and god. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be.

~ Anne Frank

There isn't always a trail to blaze.. sometimes the trail is missing altogether..

Sometimes the trail can't be seen..

Sometimes one must leave the trail and make their own way..

In all these instances I listen..

And follow that which isn't spoken..

To find my own way..

Which generally is the right way..

At least for me..

..I prefer the less traveled road.
