Sap

This is stillness

I close my eyes.

I face the sun

And breathe

Deep.

Phoebe calls

Pine warbler trills

Cardinal song fills all other space.

Winter

Still drifts close to the ground.

Air will rise

Higher

As Earth rotates

And revolves

Reflecting the light

Of the sun

A little more closely

Each moment

Warming everything

A little more

Turning ever onwards

In the journey...

I close my eyes

I breathe deeply

I absorb

The light

Of the sun

On my skin.

I am alive.

With the Towhees song

Morning

Has

Risen.

This

Is

Stillness.

Male

The male cardinals have started chasing each other.

Soon we will be down to just a male and a female.

There's only so much room for them at the feeders when they've got babies to feed.

Daffodil

The push and pull of seasons keeps me on edge in a good way

which buds will survive the dance between winter and spring

keeping fingers crossed that tender seeds waiting to bust up and out of the earth hold tight just a little longer.

I continually find myself out there looking

checking...

The birds know what's up.

Finch

This morning as I sat and the cardinals sang

two males side by side

my mind began to drift to this flock and what I can learn from it.

I came in and looked up the wisdom of the finch...

'They are generally cheerful, musical, and social birds, and delightful to both watch and listen to.  These birds are signals of a high level of energy coming into your life, and bring the hope of excitement and joy.' (Healing Wisdom of Birds)

That sounds about where my own energy is at these days

creating, manifesting, and dreaming.

Flock

I slid into the flock of birds today up close to watch them... I read there can be up to five hundred in a flock.  I don't think the flock passing through right now has five hundred but, it easily has 250.  There are pine siskins, goldfinch, red house finch, nuthatch, and juncos.  The sound is incredible as they land among the trees and begin their decent to the ground... The swoosh when the hawk spooks them and the flee into the trees...
