Basil is probably my favorite kitchen herb. I have come to especially love the sweetness of lemon basil. This will be washed and hung for drying for winter cooking.
We harvest just before it blooms. Just cutting it to the stem buds so it continues to grow.
It reseeds every year. I enjoy it's color, but have never used it much in the kitchen.
This year, I've decided to use it in the kitchen. The flavor is milder, but it makes a beautiful herbal vinegar for salads and other dishes.
