My chickens are so funny the way they chase each other around when one of them has something good to eat that the others don't. It never occurred to me that songbirds might do the same. Tonight a juvenile cardinal found a big, thick and delicious caterpillar on the muscadine close to me. Within seconds of her dropping it to the ground to feast upon this morsel she had found two more juvenile cardinals began chasing her around trying to get it. They were all awkward looking like young cardinals are. They followed her beyond my vision. I wonder if she shared or there were leftovers.
